Why Ken-o-tye Holland Rocks the Haus Party…

So all the media outlets are pouring out the love for my beloved Red Wings and naturally
questions and predictions of the big “R” arise…Our beloved Wile. E. Ken-otye always handles them with the greatest of ease….

Exciting and interesting to me is that Ken-otye compares this Red Wing team to the 1997 Champions, saying these things in the Windsor Star to one of my favorite writers, Dave Waddell:

The tempered and sage: “You don’t win on paper”

The surprising and exciting: “We’re closer to ’97 than ’02,” Holland said. "When you think of the ‘02 team we felt that team still had some hockey (left), but our core players were Steve (Yzerman), (Sergei) Fedorov, (Chris) Chelios, (Nick) Lidstrom and they were all in their mid-30s.

“When we won the cup in ’97, our best players were high 20s to low 30s. The age of our team now is a lot closer to ’97.”

The business end of it: "We’ve kind of got a one-year window here because of the contracts we signed players to and where their careers went," Holland said.

“That allowed us to bring in Marian Hossa. That’s not going to be the case a year from now.

“We have Hossa, Zetterberg, Samuelsson, Franzen they’re all UFAs. Hudler is an RFA, so we’re going to have to make some decisions over the next 12 months.

“This is probably the deepest team we’ve ever had, but we know a year from now we’re going to start losing players.”

Bring on the season Folks- I am SOOOOOO ready!
